Here’s How Democrats Can Still Win In 2022

With many failures with the new Biden administration, the very low (and expected) approval rating of Congress, and the drastic change in the United States, many doubt Democrat’s ability of winning in 2022. And at the moment, I’m one of those people, but I do believe Democrats still have an ability to win, but the road to winning won’t be easy. Here’s what the Dems can do to hold on to their power, for just a little bit longer to get themselves through 2022.

#1 Kick out the establishment

Democrats have a pretty big establishment problem. Currently, lots of the establishment is planning to retire, but many are planning to stay. First, Democrats need to get rid of Pelosi. Both political parties alike don’t like her and she’s pretty old and doesn’t have a need to be Speaker of the House.

With Pelosi, the Democrats need to kick out Steny Hoyer as well. He’s currently the Majority Leader in the House and has always had an urge to be Speaker of the House. He’s also had some bad blood with Pelosi. It started when Pelosi was an intern for him when she was in her 20’s. When Pelosi moved out of Maryland and went to California and became a Representative, she quickly stepped up to leadership in the House and kicked Hoyer out of the role as Minority Leader, after a few Congresses, Pelosi became Speaker, and ever since, Hoyer has been in her shadow. And now, Hoyer has the intent to be Speaker, and it seems as if he doesn’t want to retire. He has accomplished very little in the House and will simply weigh down the Democratic party.

Next up on the chopping block is a no brainer, and that is Chuck Schumer. Now, I am a huge Schumer fan, but Schumer’s time in the Senate, in my view has come to a close. He has served New York well, and the title of Majority Leader of the Senate has been occupied for him for long enough. Schumer is a huge talker, and doesn’t do a good job of delivering. Almost 1,000 of his tweets have been “Today would be a good day for the Biden-Harris administration to cancel student loan debt.” Now, cancelling student loan debt is very popular, but is easier said than done. And Schumer hasn’t done much in the Senate to cancel it… At all. With all the new young Democratic Senators, it would be a good bet to give a young and wise member such as Tammy Duckworth the role of Majority Leader.

Now, I can make this entire opinion about the very deep Democratic establishment, but Democrats have a lot to worry about, and it’s not just the establishment. The establishment actually plays a small, but important role in the 2022 midterms.

#2 Prioritize Rural America

In 2008, Democrats had 59 seats in the Senate. Now, many argue this was because of Former President Obama and his ability to persuade Americans and getting them out to vote. But I think this is because this was a time when Democrats were caring more about rural America. States such as Iowa, Arkansas, North Carolina, Montana, South Dakota, West Virginia, and Alaska and may I remind you, all of these states with the exception of North Carolina voted for McCain in 2008. If Democrats can bring these states back to their side, they’ll be beating Republicans at their own game. In recent years, Democrats haven’t been too worried about rural America, therefore, rural America didn’t worry about them. The biggest problem with the Democrats is their lack of consistency with Americans. And that’s really a problem amongst all spectrums. Politicians usually get into office and simply forget about the people who got them there in the first place, and Democrats have seen the front of that. Democrats need to bring back rural America on their side and that starts by bringing back their prioritization of farmers who have been heavily impacted by the pandemic, if people like farmers realize that Democrats care about them, then they would have a reason to get out and vote for Democrats.

A good example of a recent rural Democrat who made major change is Former Senator Doug Jones. Although he didn’t win re-election in Alabama, he had a great platform and did a lot in his short 2 years in the Senate. He wasn’t worried about the politics in Washington, he was worried about the people of Alabama and was ready to act on their behalf, not his own. But Democrats can’t run another candidate like Doug Jones. Because Doug Jones wasn’t ready for Trump and Trumpism.

In the rural side of the United States, it is infected by Trump’s name. And Democrats at the moment aren’t ridding themself of Trump, they’re using Trump as a campaign strategy which is an even bigger issue.

#3 Go where Trump goes

This may seem like a silly idea to you, but think about it. So far, ever since Trump badly lost the 2020 election, he has campaigned on behalf of many candidates and by what I can see, a majority of them have won. Unless of course their name is Chuck Grassley and they have been in politics since the Eisenhower administration.

Democrats know how to infest voters with the idea that every Republican AND conservative candidate is basically Trump, and depending on where the constituency is, most of them don’t like Trump.

Now, why I say Democrats need to follow Trump is because without Trump, Americans will vote for the right. We see an example of this in the Virginia Governor race. Donald Trump was not engaged in the Virginia Governor race and that was a good thing for the right, and a bad thing on the left. Donald Trump’s name carries lots of negative weight on (non-rural) voters. Especially those voters who mattered such as minorities, young voters, parents, etc.

Well, that’s just my opinion on the matter, be sure to tell me yours if you’d like.
